Small Galleries in Brisbane That I Love — Part 2 - Et Al Gallery and Studio

As an emerging artist, building genuine connections through your art is essential. One of the most meaningful ways to do this is by working with and supporting local art galleries. Small galleries especially play a vital role in Brisbane’s creative ecosystem, offering opportunities for artists and accessible cultural experiences for visitors.

In 2025, I made it my mission to work with as many local Brisbane art galleries as possible. Along the way, I’ve discovered a handful of favourites that I now happily recommend to fellow artists, as well as to visitors and tourists looking to explore Brisbane’s vibrant art scene.

This blog post is the second in a series highlighting small art galleries in Brisbane that are well worth a visit. This is are a showcase of one of the small galleries in Brisbane that I love.

Et Al Gallery and Studio - one of the small galleries in Brisbane that I love

My next suggestion is Et Al Gallery and Studio, situated in the charming seaside village of Sandgate in the Greater Brisbane Region. The studio is conveniently near the Sandgate Railway Station and just a short walk from the bayside.

The studio is a bright, single room located among charming shops and cafes on Fifth Avenue in Sandgate.

Recommendation for all artists

Et Al Gallery and Studio presents a variety of exhibits, ensuring there is something to appeal to every artist.

  • Public group callouts - perfect for emerging artists early in their career

  • Closed callouts (invitation only)

  • Solo exhibitions

They also provide Professional Artist Series workshops year-round.

Recommendation for visitors and tourists

If you're a tourist in Brisbane, I highly recommend visiting Sandgate. You'll find charming cafes and lunch spots, playgrounds, esplanade parks, and the bay.

I love visiting Et Al Gallery and Studio to view exhibitions by local artists. Many exhibits feature small works or gifts, allowing you to take home something unique and authentic. Afterward, I enjoy strolling down Fifth Avenue to admire the distinctive "Queenslanders," which are character houses unique to Queensland. At the end of the street lies Moreton Bay, where you can enjoy the bayside horizon and wade in the water.

Sangate Art Lovers

Sandgate is a vibrant community with a strong creative spirit, featuring its own Sandgate Art Society that organizes various events throughout the year. Consider planning your visit to coincide with their monthly Artist Pop-Ups, the annual Sandgate Easter Art Show, and explore the Creative Trail - and more!
