“Translate” is an exploration of movement, depth and emotional terrain. Layers of deep indigo, ultramarine and luminous green gather and shift across a raw linen ground, creating a sense of immersion - as though looking into water, canopy or shadowed landscape from above.
Fine linear marks drift across the surface like currents or wind patterns, suggesting unseen systems at work beneath what we first perceive. The composition feels both fluid and grounded, abstract yet anchored in something recognisable - like a place remembered rather than precisely mapped.
As a landscape architect, translation is part of my everyday practice: reading the land, interpreting its systems, and reshaping its stories into built form. In this painting, that act becomes intuitive and personal. It is less about accuracy and more about feeling - translating atmosphere rather than topography, energy rather than elevation.
“Translate” considers how we carry places within us. How colour, texture and movement become a language of memory. It invites the viewer to step into the in-between space - where land becomes emotion, and emotion becomes form.
