“Ancient Limestone Rises” is inspired by Hạ Long Bay in northern Vietnam, where towering karst formations emerge from the water after millions of years of slow change.
I wanted this piece to feel like a memory of the place rather than a literal view. The softened forms and layered colours echo the way the karsts appear through mist and shifting light, while the hand-drawn contour lines are a way of tracing their deep history.
This work is about geological time, stillness, and the humbling sense of standing before something far older than us. As a landscape architect, it reflects my ongoing fascination with how landscapes are formed, read and remembered, and how stone can rise gently, shaped by time rather than urgency.
